Today the American Mental Wellness Association officially launched a call to action for all Americans to bring equality, equity, and justice to those who are affected in any way with a mental health challenge. Call to Action contains 24 “Not One More…” statements which will end the inhumane and discriminatory treatment of those living with a mental health problem which includes substance use disorders. Opening September 12th at 6PM and running through September 17th, Elephant Room Productions will present a theatrical production titled Suicide Stories: Gallery of the Untold as part of the Philadelphia Fringe Festival 2017This production features plays written by 9 playwrights all touching on the topic of suicide in their own unique and healing way. September 2017 – AMERICAN MENTAL WELLNESS ASSOCIATION SAYS ZERO SUICIDE INITIATIVE BEST MODEL FOR SUICIDE PREVENTION PROGRAMS

“Suicide is stage four crisis,” Sharon Engdahl, Executive Director of the American Mental Wellness Association explains. “The truth is it’s easier to prevent suicide when the focus is placed on stage one, which is the beginning of a mental health problem developing. This is no different than for prevention of death from cancer, lung disease, or heart disease.
